Clippership® Rate Change 2008 FAQs Q: How long will the Clippership version 12.7 upgrade take? A: This Clippership upgrade should take about 10 minutes to complete. Q: I am not familiar with the upgrade process. What is involved? A: Clippership is designed to allow for seamless upgrades. Simply run the autorun.exe and follow the prompts. For detailed instructions please contact support at 503-331-4000 Q: Can I apply the upgrade even when I have already processed live packages for the day? A: You must close carriers with open shipments before upgrading. Q: Can my shippers be processing while I am applying the upgrade? A: No, your shippers must be logged out of the shipping system while the upgrade is being applied. Q: Do I need to run the upgrade on every one of my shipping stations? A: If you are upgrading a network install of Clippership, you will not need to upgrade each workstation. Clippership self-installs the necessary components needed for each workstation. So a single installation can allow users on other PCs to point to cswin.exe and Clippership will be able to run on that machine. It is important that each workstation should have the same drive letter mapped to the same network location. If you have separate Clippership installations on multiple PCs, you will need to run the update on each PC. Q: Our shipping computer is integrated with our mainframe and we wish to have new UPS and FedEx Ground rates only updated in our Clippership software (i.e. not an entirely new Clippership program). Will this be possible? A: Due to the changes announced by the carriers, you will not be able to upgrade just rates in your system. A full upgrade of Clippership will be required to remain compliant. Q: Will my OZ version also need to be updated? A: No, your integration software will not need to be upgraded. Q: Will all of my custom OZ functionality remain intact after the upgrade? A: Yes, all functionality will remain as programmed. Q: The compliance changes don't go into effect until December 31st for UPS and January 7th for FedEx. Can I perform the upgrade prior to that date? A: Yes, Clippership contains functionality that will not put compliance changes in effect until the proper effective date. It is important to note, however, that rates will be put in place when the first user starts Clippership. § On the morning of December 31st, make sure all users are logged out of their system before upgrading the new rates and access Clippership through one workstation. Once this is complete, all users can log back on to Clippership. § On the morning of January 7th, make sure all users are logged out of their system before upgrading the new rates and access Clippership through one workstation. Once this is complete, all users can log back on to Clippership. Q: How will the new rates effect my negotiated customer rates with UPS? A: The Clippership update will not affect custom Domestic rates or international rates. Please note, we will apply list residential surchagre to the UPS Standard Service to Canada. Q: I use FedEx Ship Manager Server (FSMS) to process my FedEx Express packages. Do I need to upgrade FSMS as part of my Clippership update? A: The Clippership update is independent of FSMS, however, to take full advantage of new FedEx functionality we recommend you upgrade your existing FedEx Ship Manager Server to 7.71. § For customers running a version of FedEx Ship Manager Server (FSMS) below 7.6x, please contact support Q: Will this upgrade affect other carriers besides UPS? A: The upgrade will contain the rate change for FedEx and UPS. For other carrier modules you ship with, you will receive the changes made to these modules over the past year, or since your last upgrade. Q: Will I need to apply this upgrade if I do not ship UPS? A: Yes, 12.7 will also contain changes in FedEx as well as compliance changes affecting other carrier modules and feature changes made during the year. Q: How can I tell if my license file is valid? A: Even though you have an active support and maintenance contract, the expiration date on your installed system's license file will control whether the upgrade can complete successfully. Check the "Upgradeable Until" date in the Help, About, Details screen. If this date is prior to January 1, 2008, you will need to obtain a new license file for Clippership.
